  1. EVERYONE I have known who moved to Hawaii got that Island fever thing after about a year or so. True.

  2. I think the solution to this is pretty simple. If the property you own on Hawaii is not your primary residence, you pay 2x the property tax. Maybe 3x.

Take that money and use it to subsidize transport costs for resources to the island.

This accomplishes many things at once – reduces desire for outside property acquisition while making actual residents lives easier through reduced costs.

  3. What a One Sided Hit Piece using a lot of older dubious Hearsay Information. For example, I got my 3bed/2bath condo maybe 10 years ago for $300k, I could easily sell it now for like $600k. I’ll have it paid off in time for Retirement. I’m Loven It! I also love the Aloha Spirit here too, virtually none of that you know what “Drama” like on the Mainland! Gas here is usually $4/G not like that California $8/G. Sam’s Club affordably delivers most of my Food right to my front door and Amazon delivers just about everything else I need with Free Shipping, just gotta order $30 or more at a time, no Amazon Prime needed.
